The experience
As in a closing circle, you will be surprised to discover that one of the most famous legends linked to the various Samnite tribes tells how in each of them the story of groups of young people who leave their community to follow a totem animal. A red thread that throughout centuries of history connects many different tribes to the modern stories of those who, following the “totem of fortune”, carry with them the roots of the so-called “Terra Felix”: what better adjective to describe the authentic experience that awaits you, if not “felix”? The vast territory in the north of Campania, as historically named by renowned philosophers and thinkers, has always had characteristics favorable to human settlements: its flat conformation from the Apennine chains to the Tyrrhenian Sea across the plain of the majestic Volturno, earned it this adjective suited to its wealth and to the happiness of those who lived in that area. Temperate climate suitable for every type of cultivation and breeding, thick woods, scenic and monumental beauties extraordinary in their uniqueness, characterize this territory which in the past largely corresponded to the territory of Capua, the oldest city of Rome, but which over the centuries has redefined to the point of shaping the current borders, which today embrace those of another historic Italian region: the north-eastern areas of Campania and, in particular, the province of Benevento, a meeting point between the various Samnite tribes and a land of passage along the historic communication route represented by the Via Appia. Land, therefore, of travel, exploration, meeting and contamination between the different people who lived in those places.

Today the Silk Factory houses the Silk Museum, where you can retrace all the production phases and be enchanted by the ancient restored looms. Near the Royal Palace you will also be able to admire another historic building, the Canapificio, “from which an acrid smell spread which for decades marked the olfactory memory of those arriving by train at Caserta station”.
