New Airport in Campania in Salerno
For tourists eager to visit the Amalfi Coast, there is good news: next July 11th will open the “Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi” airport, making access to this extraordinary region of Campania easier. The Amalfi Coast, already awarded the prestigious title of UNESCO World Heritage Site for its breathtaking cliffs and its characteristic villages overlooking the sea, will now be more accessible than ever.
Located just 45km from Amalfi and 21km from Salerno, the airport will offer tourists quick access to the gems of the Amalfi Coast. They will thus be able to visit the historic cathedral of Sant’Andrea in Amalfi, the exclusive Positano, the marvelous Ravello nestled between sky and sea, the picturesque villages of Maiori and Minori with their enchanting beaches, up to Cetara and Vietri sul Mare, famous throughout the world for their fine handcrafted ceramics.
The new Campania airport, identified with the code “QSR”, will be served by various airlines, among which EasyJet stands out, which has already included the airport in its official website. At the moment the list of actual destinations is missing, but rumors suggest that they will be communicated soon. Furthermore, the Irish airline Ryanair is also likely to join soon.
Meanwhile, the low-cost airline Volotea has announced the launch of four routes to and from the new Campania airport: Cagliari, Nantes, Catania and Verona. The inaugural flight to Nantes will take place on 11 July, followed by the connection to Cagliari on 13 July. Both routes have two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Starting from 2 September, the service to Catania and Verona will also be available, with two weekly flights, on Mondays and Fridays, also operating during the winter period.
