In the heart of the Piazza di Pollica, Studio Bellosguardo inaugurated the “Archive – Heritage – Pollica” project, a project that represents a significant step in the digital preservation of collective memory, in line with the objectives of the Faro Convention. The Mayor Stefano Pisani, known for his commitment to valorising the immense cultural heritage of Pollica, strongly believes that the true heritage lies in the people and has decided to support this initiative promoted by the Diffuso Living Lab – “Paideia Campus” thanks to the Borghi Call ( Line B).
Photographic archives, traditionally custodians of the past, are transforming into more accessible and democratic virtual spaces. “Archivio Pollica” is a striking example of this evolution, uniting the community in the collection and preservation of their memories. The citizens of Pollica are called to actively participate, bringing family albums and vintage photographs for digitization. This process not only preserves personal moments but also helps document Pollica’s social history and collective identity.
The project extends beyond mere archiving. Studio Bellosguardo is committed to providing free photographic portraits to residents, complementing the community’s contemporary visual storytelling. At the same time, photography and artistic printing workshops are held for young people, led by the Paideia Campus team. These educational initiatives aim to reveal the magic and expressive power of photography, a fundamental tool in the narration and preservation of collective history.
“Archive – Heritage – Pollica” is not just an archiving project. It is an ode to collective memory, a commitment to valorise the past and pass it on to future generations. It represents an innovative and inclusive approach to cultural conservation, where every individual has the opportunity to contribute and where cultural heritage becomes an ongoing dialogue between past and present.
