The experience
The Surname Museum was created by Michele Cartusciello, a lover of local traditions and culture. He began to cultivate a passion for Genealogy way back in 1984, when for the first time he entered the municipal archive of his town, Padula, a small village south of the province of Salerno.
The research for the creation of the family tree led him to municipal, parish and state archives.
In April 2012 all the experience accumulated over the years was condensed into the exhibition itinerary of the Surname Museum.
Located on the ground floor of a house from the 1700s, the Museum is in the historic center of Padula. Mainly didactic in nature, it includes a path specifically created to help the visitor take the first steps in genealogical research.
