Offer complete support for organizing tailor-made trips, adapted to the specific needs of each traveler to rediscover their origins, also including genealogical research; This is the objective of the Italea project which sees Campania at the forefront. Municipalities under six thousand inhabitants were able to participate in a ministerial tender to carry out activities intended for Italians abroad and today the Municipality of Fontanarosa presented, at the Civic Museum in Contrada Pezza Mastrillo, the ITALEA project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).

ITALEA has created a platform www.italeacampania.com dedicated to Campania residents abroad, eager to reconnect with their origins through trips to rediscover the places, traditions and culture of their ancestors.

Furthermore, “Italeacard” was created, another tool to connect travelers to local businesses ready to welcome them, and which provides discounts and agreements to facilitate the journey of roots. On www.italeacard.com it is possible to both register your accommodation business and register as a traveller.

The meeting was inaugurated by the Mayor of Fontanarosa, Giuseppe Pescatore, who welcomed the numerous participants and underlined the importance of the project for the valorization of the local cultural heritage and for the strengthening of ties with the Italian diaspora. The Director of the Civic Museum, Silvio Raffaele Cosato, illustrated the role of the museum as a point of reference for visitors eager to discover their origins.

Among the notable interventions, Don Angelo Gaeta, Parish Priest of Fontanarosa, shared reflections on the spiritual meaning of returning to the roots, while Marina Gabrieli, National Coordinator of the MAECI “Roots Tourism” project, described the strategies and objectives of the project at a national level. Giuseppe Di Guglielmo, Regional Coordinator of the project, then outlined the specificities of the Campania initiatives, highlighting the contribution of small municipalities in promoting roots tourism.

Sara Roversi, President of the ITALEA Campania Regional ETS, presented the ITALEA Card, an innovative tool that offers discounts and agreements for travellers, thus facilitating the discovery of one’s origins through personalized services. Alessandro Bovino, genealogist of ITALEA Campania, explained how genealogical research can enrich the experience of Italian descendants.

Nadijara Alves Acunzo, Communications Manager of ITALEA Campania, presented the program of the “Roots Workshops” which will be held in the coming months in Fontanarosa and which will offer participants the opportunity to explore various aspects of local traditions, creating an even stronger bond with the own origins.

Giuseppe De Iesu, Deputy Mayor of Fontanarosa, illustrated the activities organized by the Municipality for the travelers from the roots who will participate in the August festival and the traditional “tirata del carro”. These events represent moments of great community involvement and offer visitors an authentic experience of local celebrations.

The Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Region, Felice Casucci, concluded the institutional interventions, expressing his appreciation for the project and underlining the importance of such initiatives for the tourist and cultural relaunch of the region: “Roots tourism is an extraordinary opportunities to rediscover our traditions and enhance the internal areas. Initiatives such as that of ITALEA Campania not only strengthen the bond with our compatriots abroad, but also contribute to the tourism and cultural relaunch of our communities”.

The day was moderated by Francesco Maria Acampora of ITALEA Campania and proved to be a moment of great participation and sharing, with an attentive audience who was able to delve deeper into the opportunities offered by the project.
