For over a decade, the Terra Felix Social cooperative is committed to protecting the Campania region, promoting local culture and traditions through a series of innovative and training initiatives. This year, Terra Felix enriches the Christmas calendar of the Royal Palace of Caserta with a special event aimed at children and their families, offering a unique day in the open air in the wonderful Museum Gardens of the Royal Palace.

On the occasion of Christmas, Terra Felix organizes two days dedicated to the discovery of spices and the creation of Neapolitan pisto, a set of fundamental spices in the Neapolitan culinary tradition. These days, scheduled for 27 and 28 December 2023, are part of the “Horticulture – Children cultivate the museum” project, aimed at combating educational poverty.

Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and scents of spices, guided by their gardener grandparents, custodians of ancestral knowledge linked to horticulture. The laboratory will offer a precious intergenerational experience, where the youngest will be able to learn not only gardening techniques but also cultural aspects linked to the use of spices in traditional cuisine.

The highlight of the event will be the practical workshop on the preparation of Neapolitan pisto, a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and coriander, typically used in the preparation of traditional desserts from Campania, particularly during the Christmas holidays. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to taste delicious biscuits made with this mix of spices, sharing a moment of joy and culinary discovery.

The event will take place in two sessions of one hour and thirty minutes each, allowing children and families to live a unique educational and sensorial experience, enriching their connection with nature and local tradition. This initiative represents an important step in promoting environmental education and enhancing local culinary traditions, inviting new generations to discover and appreciate Campania’s cultural heritage.
